Mango Margarita Recipe

We’ve got two ways to prepare this super awesome drink for you this weekend: the first in our Margaritaville Explorer Cordless Frozen Concoction Maker, the second, a slightly more fabulous version from our friends at Taste Tequila.

We made our batch tonight using our cordless Margaritaville margarita machine. In the pitcher, add:

  • Explorer-Fronzen-Concoction-Maker1/4 of a fresh mango, cubed
  • the juice of 1/2 of a large lime
  • 1 ounce of Cointreau or Triple-Sec (we used Triple Sec in our batch)
  • 1 ounce of simple syrup (sugar water)
  • 2 ounces of 100% agave tequila – we used Cazadores Reposado
  • Fill the ice hopper with ice, or if using a blender approx 1 1/4 cups
  • We set the serving setting to 3, pushed the button and let the machine do the work

In the meantime,

  • Wet the rim of a wide glass with a lime wedge
  • We rimmed one with sugar and one with salt – the sugar rim went a bit better with the sweetness of the drink
  • Add a thin slice of mango to the rim for garnish
  • Enjoy!

From Taste Tequila, here’s a version that they stumbled across in Guadalajara, Mexico. This one looks fantastic, but can’t  find Tajin seasoning for the rim, so we just used sugar.

When we drink tequila, 98% of the time we sip it slow and straight. But every once in a while (the remaining 2%) it’ll take the form of a margarita. There are two margaritas that we like best, the “Pure Margarita,” and “Charlie’s Famous Mango Margarita.”

Charlie is the happy, smiling bartender at the Quinta Don Jose Boutique Hotel, in Tlaquepaque, Mexico – our favorite hotel in the Guadalajara area.

His mango margarita is sweet, smooth, fruity, refreshing, and the tequila is still the star ingredient (it’s not hiding beneath other flavors.)

Check out the entire post as well as a video of Charlie himself making his Famous Mango Margarita at TasteTequila.net.

Mango Margarita Tequila Drink Recipe

  • Start with 1/4 of a fresh mango, cubed
  • Add approximately 1 1/2 cups of ice to a blender
  • Add the juice of 1/2 of a large lime (he says “lemon” in the video, but he means “lime.”)
  • Add 1 ounce of Cointreau
  • Add 1 ounce of simple syrup (sugar water)
  • Add 2 ounces of 100% agave tequila (Charlie uses Siete Leguas blanco, or if that’s not available, Siete Leguas reposado)
  • Add the mango cubes to the blender
  • Blend until smooth
  • Wet the rim of a wide glass with a lime wedge
  • Add Tajin seasoning to the rim of the glass
  • Add a thin slice of mango to the rim for garnish

DRINK UP!

Thanks, Charlie! And if you’re ever in the Guadalajara area, consider sitting poolside at the Quinta Don Jose while sipping on one (or more) of these.
